Charles Euphrasie Kuwasseg was a French painter of the 19th century. He essentially specialized in landscape paintings - particularly the coastal landscapes of Brittany and Normandy. His work is represented in museums in Montreal, Rouen, Pontoise, Digne and La Rochelle.

 Johannes Hilverdink
(1813 - 1902)

 

The Dutch artist Johannes Hilverdink was born in 1813 in Groningen. He was a watercolorist, lithographer, painter, draftsman, pastelist and graphic artist. He was the son of the actors Jacobus Hilverdink (1783-1828) and Anna Maria Corver. His mother was a granddaughter of the famous actor Marten Corver. Hilverdink studied under Jan Willem Pieneman and Jean Augustin Daiwaille at the Art Academy in Amsterdam. Hilverdink painted in the style of the Romantic School. His genre was landscapes and seascapes. He also painted church interiors and city views. He traveled abroad to Belgium, Germany, England, France and Greenland. Hilverdink was a member of the “Arti et Amicitiae” and a member of the Royal Academy in Amsterdam.
Hilverdink’s work is in the collections of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Boymans van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam and the Teylers Museum in Haarlem.

Peter Vilhelm Carl Kyhn was a Danish landscape painter who belonged to the generation of national romantic painters immediately after the Danish Golden Age and before the Modern Breakthrough. Even though he outlived many of his artistic peers by several decades, he remained a traditionalist and expressed strong criticism of many of the new trends in the painting of his day.

Adriaen van de Velde was a Dutch painter, draughtsman and print artist. His favorite subjects were landscapes with animals and genre scenes. He also painted beaches, dunes, forests, winter scenes, portraits in landscapes, as well as mythological and biblical scenes. He belongs to a group of painters referred to as the Dutch Italianate painters, who combined Dutch agricultural landscapes with mythological or Arcadian scenes in Italian settings. His paintings are characterised by their delicate, careful composition and his mastery of lighting effects as well as the human figure.
