José Jorge da Silva Escada was a Portuguese visual artist and painter.
With a brief career, interrupted by his premature death at the age of 46, José Escada's work was the subject of a retrospective exhibition in 1980 at the National Society of Fine Arts, and in 2016 at the Caloust Gulbenkian Museum - Modern Collection (José de Azeredo Perdigão Modern Art Center).
On June 9, 1993, he was posthumously awarded the rank of Commander of the Military Order of Sant'Iago da Espada
