He is considered one of the most important painters from this academic period. He was also a teacher with a long list of students.

 Edward Hopper
(1882 - 1967)

Edward Hopper was an American realist painter and printmaker. While he is widely known for his oil paintings, he was equally proficient as a watercolorist and printmaker in etching.
Hopper created subdued drama out of commonplace subjects layered with a poetic meaning, inviting narrative interpretations. He was praised for "complete verity" in the America he portrayed. His career benefited significantly from his marriage to fellow artist Josephine Nivison, who contributed much to his work, both as a life-model and as a creative partner.
Hopper is one of America's most renowned artists. His influence on art and popular culture has been substantial. Among his best-known paintings are New York Movie (1939) and Nighthawks (1942).

Henriëtte Ronner-Knip  was a Dutch-Belgian artist chiefly in the Romantic style who is best known for her animal paintings; especially cats.
She was born in Amsterdam into a family of artists and received her first lessons from her father, Joseph August Knip, who also gave lessons to her aunt (his youngest sister), Henriëtte Geertruida Knip. His father, Nicolaas (1741–1808), was an artist as well.

Simon Simonsen

Simon Simonsen was a Danish animal painter, born in Munich. At age four his parents moved to Copenhagen where he studied at the Academy of Arts.
Simonsen liked to portray the animals in more or less moving situations and generally placed a lot of emphasis on the picture's content or narrative, on the interaction between the different animals or between them and humans.

John Trickett is a British painter best known for his realistic depictions of hunting scenes with dogs, deer, and birds. Born in 1953 in Sheffield, United Kingdom, he worked as an accountant after playing professional soccer for a number of years. Engaged by Lord Beaverbrook's Canadian War Memorials Fund, he earned several prestigious commissions after the Great War that made him wealthy. Between 1912 and 1914 he was a member of the Newlyn School of artists. His work was part of the art competitions at the 1928 Summer Olympics, the 1932 Summer Olympics, and the 1948 Summer Olympics.

Lavinia Fontana

Lavinia Fontana was a Bolognese Mannerist painter active in Bologna and Rome. She is best known for her successful portraiture, but also worked in the genres of mythology and religious painting. She was trained by her father Prospero Fontana who was a teacher at the School of Bologna. She is regarded as the first female career artist in Western Europe as she relied on commissions for her income. Her family relied on her career as a painter, and her husband served as her agent and raised their 11 children. She was perhaps the first female artist to paint female nudes, but this is a topic of controversy among art historians.

Victoria [Wyeth's granddaughter] said the artist had come home tired one evening, wanting to take a nap, only to find Rattler had got there first. Andy's comment was, "You know, dogs are the damnedest thing. They just take over the house." Hence the title of the painting, "Master Bedroom." No mistaking who's in charge.
